Dear Parents,
In order to provide a safe and healthy environment for your children, we have a few policies we are continuing and putting in place to ensure each child is respected and is respectable. We want this to be a successful year for all of us, therefore it is important we establish these important ground rules.
Please read through these carefully and SIGN below for your child to return to school.
Our general discipline protocol: ***to follow the MPCS policy
1. Middle school level (MSL) behavior strategy
1st offense (teacher discretion)
2. warning
2nd offense
3. in school detention(erg. no socializing, no recess, lunch helpers (opportunity for redemption)
3rd offense
4. parent notification and possible suspension
4th offense
5. in school suspension
6. note: there are some behaviors that will require 3rd or 4th consequences skipping 1 and 2
1. DRESS CODE:
- please refer to page 27 in the Student handbook for appropriate attire
- Collared shirts must be worn each day of class unless otherwise noted by the teachers. Inappropriate dress will require parents/guardians to bring clothes to school for child (see discipline actions above)
2. UNEXEUSED TARDY’S: students must be seated for roll call by 8:35 am each day or they are considered tardy unless there is a legitimate excuse i.e.: a doctors appt, etc

1 per month allowed
2 or more will start to follow MSL behavior strategy.
3. TRUANCIES: It is really important that your child be at school each day! If you need to arrange absences please contact us in advance to get makeup work. Actions for too many truancies are as follows:
- 1st fault: 5 days missed in one Learning Period (1 month) = truancy warning letter and parent conference
- 2nd fault: 5 more days missed IN A ROW, in a Learning Period (1 month) = expulsion from school for the remainder of the year
- 3rd fault: if these truancies happen more than 3 times in one academic year = expulsion
4. CELL PHONES/IPODS/GAME CONSOLES: all of these items MUST be turned off and placed in backpacks at 8:30 am. They must remain OFF until 3:00 pm. Ipods maybe used if the teachers approve at certain times.
- 1st fault: teacher will collect and student receives it back at end of day
- 2nd fault: teacher collects and parents must retrieve plus student detention
- 3rd offense: parent must collect and in-school suspension
***At teachers discretion, ipods may be allowed to be used in classroom for seat-work when deemed appropriate
5. NO FOOD OR DRINK IN CLASS or COMPUTER LAB AT ANY TIME. Water bottles are allowed.
6. ZERO TOLERANCE for bullying, sexual harassment, poor language and poor behavior. These faults carry much stronger consequences and will NOT be tolerated.
7. COMPUTER USAGE: zero tolerance for students looking at inappropriate content. NO You Tube at any time unless permitted by teacher for research or certain circumstances
8. CLASS PREPAREDNESS:
· BE ON TIME!
· RESTROOM TO BE USED AT RECCESS, BREAK AND LUNCH
· COME PREPARED WITH YOUR HW, MATERIALS , ETC
· THE WHISTLE WILL BE BLOWN 2-3 MINUTES PRIOR TO CLASS, THIS MEANS YOU NEED TO USE THE RESTROOM, GET A DRINK, ETC PRIOR TO THE WHISTLE.
9. GRADES:
‘D’s and F’s are NOT permitted in this program. Students starting to fail will need to make up time and work in recess, lunch, PE, Life skills, field trips, etc as we will not allow any student to fail!
10. DETENTION:
- No talking
- must have work or book to read
- No food (with the exception of lunch)
- No ipods, phones, etc
